Murray and Hazel Gould

Howard E. Gould (Howie) our brother was the third of eleven, five sisters, five brothers, husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He enjoyed life to the fullest, family was always very important to him, never being too busy to talk whether at home or long distance. When you called his words would always be "Oh, how are you and all at home today?" His love and affection for his wife Pat and three daughters and grandchildren were forever of his concern and happiness. After completing his education Howard worked at Sifto Salt and drove taxi in Amherst, NS before joining the RCAF, serving 29 years. After retirement, he joined the RCMP as Special Constable. His life in the military with transfers far away, kept visits very few over the years. There were many conversations through slow mail and long distance. Myself being in the RCAF could relate and many times a visit home would be during a transfer to another destination. Howard often talked of how he missed family, he loved fishing trips he had with his father-in-law Mr. Teel and the hunting trips with his own father and brothers. Family visits included Seagrove Beach on the Amherst Shore with siblings and their families. There was always much to eat, a lot of fun and laughter. Many great memories. Although being away from family Howard did enjoy military life, with travel and rewards. Stationed at Base Shilo he met Patricia Teel who became his wife, the love of his life, and soon began a family of their own. During his career Howard was rewarded a trip around the world, visiting many countries of which he talked of the poor and hardships that other people had to endure, noting how very lucky we are. Howard had been exceptionally honoured with his commitment to the Saber F86, receiving a plaque in his name which was placed in front of the Saber F86 at RCAF Base Trenton Ontario. Myself and Hazel hold dear our visits with Howard, Pat and family, many good times were enjoyed over the years. Having and calling you my brother makes me forever proud. With heavy heart, at your bedside during your final days and hours along with daughters Susan, Patty and granddaughter Britney will be forever with me. I will now close with these words: Your ashes and urn we commit to the elements Your memories we keep in our hearts Your spirit hath returned to God who gave it The will of God is accomplished. May you rest in peace, Murray and Hazel
